Casper BlackBox by CrypKey Takes Software Licensing
to A New Level

Cyber Transfer Feature Allows Uploading & Downloading Licenses To Computers Anywhere

(January 12, 2004) - Global developer of software license management solutions CrypKey (Canada) Inc. is taking software licensing to a new level with Casper BlackBox, a system that combines hardware in the form of a black, mini-PC half the size of a notebook computer-and around-the-clock software protection with its innovative Casper product (CrypKey Automated Software Purchasing & Electronic Registration), an e-commerce security solution originally released in 1999.

One of the most innovative features of Casper BlackBox, which officially launched last month, is its "cyber transfer" feature which allows customers to upload their license to the Casper BlackBox and then download it to a computer located anywhere worldwide.

"The power of the cyber transfer feature is tremendous," notes Jim McCartney, CEO of CrypKey and the innovator behind his company's array of software protection products for small, medium and large enterprises. "With this feature, a vendor's customer will be able to transfer its licenses to another computer simply and securely using the Internet, and 'park' those licenses safely on the Internet while the software is not in use."

According to McCartney, the benefits of the cyber transfer feature are many. "First, customers can easily transfer a software license to their home computer for home software usage. Two, customers in an office setting can easily transfer a license to another employee when their project is finished," explains McCartney. "Three, customers can travel to different offices and easily obtain access to their license in a remote location. And four, we may never hear 'I lost my license because my hard drive crashed!' again. With Casper BlackBox, customers can store licenses safely on the Internet when software is not in use, preventing the license loss from hard drive crashes."

The new Casper BlackBox includes a compact Pentium III mini-computer, Casper BlackBox server and XP Professional, Casper (software) fully installed on the server and configured, Norton AntiVirus 2004 Professional Edition, and CrypKey's Platinum Annual Support with access to CrypKey's toll-free number, seven hours of telephone support, seven hours of remote access support to customers or end-users, two hours of system design consulting, unlimited email technical support, access to CrypKey's support Database, CrypKey quarterly newsletter, and upgrades for one year to the latest software releases. Casper Black Box comes in two varieties: eRegister, which offers automatic authorization and verification of CrypKey-protected products using serial numbers, and eCommerce, which which provides automatic authorization and verifies credit card processing of CrypKey-protected products.
