.NET Protection Is Here!

We have just released CrypKey 6.5 with .NET compatibility for CrypKey Instant, our flagship product, and CrypKey SDK (alpha version). These new .NET compatible-products are the only available solution to date offering true code encryption for .NET applications.

In addition to .NET protection, the soon-to-be-released CrypKey 7.0 will include these additional exciting features:

• enterprise network licensing - enables a protected program to function anywhere on the enterprise network;

CrypKey Option Management

CrypKey options and levels provide the vendor with the ability to control licensing on, and access to different aspects of their product:

• Modules
• Features
• Functions
• Version Control

CrypKey provides 32 bits to use for options and levels, and we can assist you if you need to extend your option and levels requirements beyond this. The vendor can determine which level and options are activated during the trial run of their software. Using a SiteKey Generator, or CrypKey Casper, options can be added/removed for an existing license. How options and levels get implemented is really up to the vendor. Some samples of how they could be used are:

• In CrypKey Instant, modules can be locked to specific options without additional coding by using the run module based on options feature. This essentially allows the vendor to quickly protect new modules for their application, which will share the same license of the parent application. This facilitates rapid deployment by allowing the vendor to assign an option number to a module, apply protection, and distribute it without having to make any changes to existing installations.
• CrypKey Instant also allows the vendor to have finer control over options/levels at the code level in order to meet more stringent requirements not addressed by the above procedure.
• Using CrypKey SDK, the vendor can have complete control over how option/levels are implemented. Such as using a level check to prevent end users from trying to circumvent a new release trial, by adopting a license from a previous release.
• Typically, options are bound to the global parameters of a shared license, such as the expiry date. However, a vendor could control the expiry date of individual options, or provide individual licenses to options, by storing respective licenses in separate subdirectories.

Determining the best way to implement options and levels can be a confusing business, even for experienced programmers. CrypKey is happy to assist vendors and provide direction in determining the best utilization of options and levels to meet their requirements.
