Automated Activation Solutions
At relatively low volumes, CrypKey's manual Site Key Generator provides an efficient means of supplying license activations to your customers. However, as volumes increase, you may want to move to a solution that automates this task. Depending on your specific needs and budget, CrypKey provides a number of options to help you do this.
The first option is CrypKey's out-of-the-box solution, Casper. This web-server application can be purchased and installed on your server in a matter of days. There are two version options to consider:
- Casper eRegister uses a pre-paid serial number that is provided to the customer to activate a valid license via the Internet.
- Casper eCommerce also uses a pre-paid serial number, but provides the option of obtaining payment via credit card prior to licensing or activation. Like Casper eRegister, Casper eCommerce has the added benefit of allowing you to use the Casper database to provide information on customers and activations.
If Casper doesn't meet your automated licensing needs, why not purchase CrypKey's Site Key Generator Library (SKGL) and build your own custom solution? SKGL is commonly used by our customers to build an activation process that fits their specific product requirements and market needs. Since 1992, CrypKey has prevailed as a leader in software anti-piracy solutions. Today, we are proud to stand behind CrypKey 7, our most powerful, flexible, easy-to-use encryption tool to date. One of the most significant differences between CrypKey 6 and 7 is the improved licensing process. CrypKey 7 now supports licensing in true client/sever networking environment. An application license can be shared with any computer or user on a network; drive sharing is no longer required. This means that a client can use a license that is shared anywhere on a network, without needing to know where it is. CrypKey no longer licenses only a computer, but rather can now license an entire network!

- can specify a priority list of servers to check for a license, or specify that any server can be used

- transfers a specified number licenses from one computer to another
- allows transfers to be initiated from anywhere on the network
- allows you to specify the number of licenses to transfer
- permits a license transfer to a computer that already has licenses on it (i.e., a license can be returned to a license pool)

A recent test of EZ Gig II, a new Linux-based hard drive cloning application, proved to be no match against CrypKey. This program works by first booting the computer into a Linux operating system before creating a bit-by-bit, exact duplicate of the hard drive. This innovative approach defeats the major downfall of other software piracy programs that attempt to copy the hard drive while Windows is running. Since Windows is operating during the cloning process, and therefore constantly changing the characteristics of the original device, duplicating the hard drive is complicated and often unreliable at best.
By running its own operating system from a CD, EZ Gig II side steps this problem and enables the hacker to copy the hard drive while it is inactive. EZ Gig II is easy to use and effective in creating a reliable clone of all applications on a computer's hard drive. That is, providing that the software is not protected by CrypKey.
Our recent test of EZ Gig II revealed that Windows and most other applications will operate perfectly on a cloned hard drive. However, CrypKey-protected applications will consistently fail on the copied drive. Now, we call that putting your money where your mouth is!
