CrypKey's Summer Product Innovations CrypKey remains at the forefront of software protection and license management innovation, with one new product and an enhanced product feature to be issued this summer. We are continually looking at new ways to offer license management, whether it be through new products or with updates and improvements to our existing product line, says CrypKey (Canada) Inc. CEO Jim McCartney. This summer, CrypKey will launch USBKey, a flash drive solution for those who prefer a tangible rather than a software-based solution. USBKey, which is less expensive and easier to use than the common dongle solution, is inserted into the USB port to authorize a software application to be run, and will permit the secure movement of a license from one computer to another. USBKey can be used in tandem with CrypKey Instant or CrypKey SDK to protect a software application. CrypKey is also creating new product features for existing products, such as eTransfer, a feature of CrypKey Instant and CrypKey SDK which will provide end-users with the ability to transfer licenses for an authorized application both to and from the Internet. New Product USBKey: First Hybrid Solution of Hardware & Electronic
License Management USBKey provides a flash drive solution for software developers and end-users who prefer to use tangible, as opposed to software-based, copy protection solutions. Unlike dongle solutions, which hold only authorization codes to unlock the software, USBKey can hold a software application and the license to authorize it. It holds 320,000,000 bytes compared to the dongle, which holds 100 bytes on average. The USBKey by CrypKey comes loaded with a Site Key Generator, which allows the user the advantage of being able to transfer a license from one computer to another. New Product Features Transferring Licenses To and From the Net with eTransfer CrypKey Instant and CrypKey SDK now feature "eTransfer" which provides the end-user with the ability to transfer licenses for an authorized application both to and from the Internet. To enable the eTransfer feature, either Casper eRegister or Casper eCommerce is required. The Casper server allows the administrator to set the back-up feature automatically on a configurable time basis to prevent the loss of licenses on the server. A key benefit of the eTransfer feature is flexibility. It allows the end-user to move licenses for authorized applications from one computer to another. As such, users can easily move a license when updating or changing their computer; permit someone else to use their license while they are on vacation or business trip etc.; transfer a license between office and home with ease; or quickly send a license to someone at a different location. Another key benefit of eTransfer is the ability it provides to park a license on the Internet. The end-user can park a license in a safe place while it is not in use, make a license available to other users if necessary, reduce chances of losing a license, or keep a license safe while updating the operating system or reformatting his or her hard drive.
