CrypKey Licenses Applications Accessed by ASP.NET
Our customers frequently ask us, "Can an ASP.NET application use CrypKey licensing and protection?" The answer is "yes."
CrypKey functions can be called directly from an ASP.NET application. If you want to protect your ASP.NET application from reverse engineering, you can move the CrypKey function calls, along with your intellectual property, into an external C++ or COM DLL. This can then be protected from reverse engineering by applying the CrypKey Stealth utility. The ASP.NET architecture does not support network licensing; however, you can limit the number of users by defining and managing the number of allowed sessions in your ASP.NET application.
Unlike many competing software security solutions that employ the generally prevailing obfuscation method to deter hackers, CrypKey Instant and CrypKey SDK provide true code encryption for .NET applications. Obfuscation attempts to confuse hackers by altering software codes. Unfortunately, software security tools that use this method are easy to circumvent by determined opponents. Industry News: Data Security On High Alert for 2007
Regulatory requirements and increasing consumer concerns about information security breaches are making data-level security controls a top priority for 2007, according to IT managers at the November 2006 Computer Security Institute (CSI) trade show in Orlando.
After years of implementing technologies such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems to keep network perimeters safe, companies now must move similar controls down to the data level, they said.
John Ceraolo, director of information security for JM Family Enterprises Inc., said, “non-public information of all sorts needs to be protected, whether it is at rest or in transit.” He added that this will “[require] an increasing focus on measures such as data classification and encryption, stronger user access and authentication and usage monitoring and auditing”.

What version are you using? The current version for Casper is 2.0; build 228 encompasses all the latest technology and upgrades available. Effective November 30, 2006, CrypKey no longer supports Casper 1X. If you are still using Casper 1X, please contact our technical support team to determine a transition plan for upgrading your software.
CrypKey 5.7
With the release of CrypKey 7, we no longer support version 5.7. To ensure a smooth transition of your protected application(s), please contact technical support to discuss an implementation strategy that's best for you. We also advise customers to download the new CrypKey 7 instead of attempting to upgrade version 5.7, due to the vast changes in the technologies between versions.
