CrypKey's Anti-Piracy Technologies

CrypKey incorporates a number of anti-piracy technologies to combat reverse engineering, illegal key generators, debugging, patching, memory-dumping and hard drive cloning.

CloneBuster

The industry’s first tool to combat hard drive cloning or “ghosting”, CrypKey’s CloneBuster technology integrates the unique hard drive serial number (HDSN) into the copy protection.

CrypWrap

This is a new function that protects non-executable files just as CrypKey does for executables. CrypWrap allows you to wrap multiple files into a single file, and send this protected file safely to its destination.

Dynamic Multi-Key Encryption

The bit size of our Site Code and Site Key encryption have been increased so that encryption keys are constantly “changing on the fly”--truly a code-breaker’s nightmare.

EasyLicense

For customers that need the simplest form of copy protection, our EasyLicense allows an application to only run on a particular computer, allowing back-up and restoring or reformatting of a hard drive.

Stealth

Stealth, CrypKey’s anti-hacking layer is a critical component that prevents hackers from reverse engineering and circumventing the copy protection. The way Stealth works is like breaking down an application into a 10,000-piece jigsaw puzzle, without any picture on the pieces.

How CrypKey Technologies Work

Problem: Reverse Engineering - Systematically removing the security intended to protect your software

Solution:
CrypKey’s Stealth is included in both CrypKey Instant and CrypKey SDK and provides a formidable challenge to any efforts to reverse-engineer your application. Since the introduction of Stealth in 1996 and Stealth in 2002, CrypKey has continuously strengthened our reputation for developing anti-piracy solutions that lead the industry. Stealth continues to evolve and aintain its competitive advantage and industry acceptance.

Problem: Illegal Key Generators – By reverse engineering the process, an illegal key generator can be created to produce additional unpaid by working license keys for an application.

Solution: CrypKey’s Stealth provides unique and aggressive protection from illegal key generators. In addition to the way Stealth prevents reverse engineering a CrypKey-protected software application, Stealth also uses multiple levels of encryption and utilizes CrypKey’s proprietary dynamic multi-key encryption scheme that changes constantly. This makes an encryption attack extremely difficult and enables developers to generate license keys that are very secure but still small enough to communicate easily with their paying customers.

Problem: Debugging, Patching and Memory Dumping – Common tools and processes used to detect and remove copy protection security

Solution: CrypKey features one of the best, if not the best “in-memory encryption” available today. Many of the less secure products on the market offer very little or no protection at all for applications as they run in memory. Even fewer protect the application as it is being loaded into memory to prevent monitoring the process using tools that enable hackers to gain unprotected access to your software.

Problem: Hard Drive Cloning – Dropping hard drive prices makes it affordable and appealing to copy an entire drive to gain access to specialized or higher-prized programs

Solution: CrypKey’s CloneBuster technology is the industry’s first effective deterrent to the problem of hard drive cloning. Utilities like Ghost and XXCopy are rendering once-popular copy protection techniques useless, generating fast, lucrative returns for software pirates.

CloneBuster leverages the ten-plus year battle-proven CrypKey protection architecture to detect and log the HDSN, model number and firmware identifier and then uses this information in its proprietary licensing algorithms.
